How Jen Barney started their web page design journey
We want a unique, memorable, classy website that is EASY to use. It must be simple so that anyone who is non-computer savvy can navigate through it.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
For colors, we like blue, with silver accents and possibly red accents. For the home page, we like makita.com layout with the b&w background and the bold colors. Go to the website truereligionbrandjeans.com we like that look a lot. Coors.com we like the wood background and the frame (2nd page of their site). The wood should be the backdrop, as the tools were the backdrop in the makita.com site. On the home page, these are the most important focal points: 'Barterwell.com and ' and secondly 'SEARCH' which goes hand in hand with 'zip code'. Leave a space (framed in) for captions/blurps to rotate through, toward the top of the page. It should have a trading post/bulletin board feel with papers pinned up to the wood (idea: old silver thumbtacks or nails). The items pinned up would be various sizes and shapes (see uvu.edu). Logo should be Adobe Illustartor. The entire design should be a layered Photoshop file.
