Chris.fordyce got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Book My Yacht needs a logo and website design
Check out Chris.fordyce's Web page design contest…
The aim is to create a site that allows customers access to the widest selection of bareboat charters in the world and to give yacht owners the ability to showcase their boat in a global marketplace. We match up individuals or companies who have yachts to rent (operators) with people who want to charter (customers). The site will feature a large selection of boats from operators anywhere in the world, information about destinations/itineraries and will allow customers to search, browse and book and pay for any of these boats.

Logo: http://www.gravity.gr/ like the blend with the site colour scheme and the cool modern design http://logofury.com/logo/thinkmusic.html - like how this is simple but still really stands out. would prefer a bit of colour though http://logofury.com/logo/checklist.html - like that this is original and very clever how they combine check and list in one logo Site: www.powderbeds.com - like that this site has a clear grid layout but without being too ‘boxy’, and the header and footer effect www.sunsail.co.uk - like this for the layout and the structure, but the design is too dull. We would prefer something a bit more bold and original www.themusicbed.com - like the clean and interesting design of this Site stuntsoftware.com - like the simplicity of this site while still being bold, interesting and non-conventional www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/index.html - Like the simplicity and layout for booking.
1st ‘page’ is for a logo to be created. We would like a ‘pictoral mark’ logo. We are open to suggestions for a logo that meets the general style of the site. The ‘feel’ needs to be professional and trustworthy, but it could still be bold, modern and colourful Home page: The main landing page. Needs to be clean, enticing, preferably with a large amount of space dedicated to sailing-related photography. Yacht search form (location, dates, berths) should be clear and prominent. Other elements to be included: a map of locations where we have yachts, space for ‘promoted yachts’ or ‘featured destinations’, a space for latest news or updates, a large footer with links to some of our key destinations and static site content. Yacht results page: Displays all matching yachts after a search, or all boats if no search creiteria specified. Needs to have a ‘refine’ section to filter results by: location (checkboxes), length (slider), make (checkboxes), year (slider), berths (slider). Each matching yacht needs to display: yacht name, thumbnail image, make, length, berths, year, location
The attached mockups show a potential layout for these pages, illustrating the most of the content and sections that we would like to include (as described above). There is no need to stick with these specific layouts when designing these pages as long as the required content can be included. This site should be modern, fresh and exciting and should make you want to use it!
