HOME PAGE (HP): http://www.assistme.com
While making full use of the logo color scheme, the HP should be simple and elegant (preferably with a white background, unless the addition of color can compliment our logo successfully); with a bit of "Wiz-Bang-Wow!". However, kindly bear in mind that we wish the entire site to be friendly to Subscribers who may be between 54 and 80 years of age. So, as these individuals may have certain physical or sensory limitations, attention should be given to the design elements (throughout the entire design) needed to serve this community.
While the current HP design is patterned after the Google HP (which is simple), the "Google" template approach need not be followed. Indeed, while we'd like the HP to be simple and elegant (blending equally "FORM" & "FUNCTION"), we'd like the HP to reveal (in a simple and discrete way) the 4 services available [eg, personal classified advertisements, project & product tenders (or, reverse auctions), Job Search (Postings), and relevant (assistance-related) video sharing (assistme.tv)].
The Header should contain the following elements:
REGISTRATION & SIGN-IN:
From the HP, potential Subscribers will have the ability to register and Sign-in from a Single Social Sign-in feature; using several of the most popular Social Networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Open-ID (though others may be also available).
(2) LINKS: “barter | classes | community | directory | fora | for sale | housing | jobs | personal | services | vehicles”
(3) REGION: [flag - REGION abbreviation]
Ex. [flag - AL], to indicate the state of Alabama
Ex. [flag - IN], to indicate the country of India
(4) SETTINGS: Account Management
(5) SUBSCRIBER Photo & First Name
Ex. John [photo]
OTHER HOMEPAGE (HP) Links:
We wish to include also links from the HP to the following sites and sub-domains:
* assistme® Job Search: http://jobs.assistme.com
* assistme® network: http://www.assistme.net
* assistme® TV: http://www.assistme.tv
as well as...
* assistme® Meetup Everywhere! : http://www.meetup.com/assistme
For example, these links may be introduced as a TAB structure at the base of the design, such as:
CLASSIFIEDS | JOBS | MEETUP | TENDERS | TV | WANT ADS
As indicated above, the LIVE development site is located at:
Username: assistme // Password: poiuyt0324$
While the database is not yet populated, you may search for "car" to review one live listing. Feel free to create others.
However, if you prefer to use a PPT file, see the file below, entitled:
assistme - current desgin (to be replaced).ppt
On page one, you will find our SEARCH RESULTS page.
Kindly notice, however that the TAB links at the top will need to be revised, to read:
HOME | PUBLISH | SEARCH | DIRECTORY | FEATURES | PRICING | FAQs
 DASHBOARD (DB) [or, MY ACCOUNT] PAGE:
The DB page is the area in which Subscribers will both begin their journey and manage and monitor their account activity (i.e., purchase and publish services as well as to track activity); the current template for which is available from the "Existing Website" link; which requires registration & sign-in).
From the Existing (development) Site, the DB provides the following (left-column) NAVIGATION elements: Listing Cart & My Account
Likewise, the Body Page includes these following elements:
Tenders (reverse auctions)
However, this page will also need to include a few other [Facebook applet] elements; which will allow the Subscriber to see also WHO & HOW MANY TIMES others have "LIKED" or "RECOMMENDED" the Subscriber's publications.
Indeed, as the Personal Classified Ads and Tender LISTING PAGE will include "LIKE" and "RECOMMEND" Facebook applets, the DB page should provide the Subscriber with a Control Panel featuring an accumulation of all of the Subscribers posts as a snapshot of "LIKES" & "RECOMMENDATIONS" attributed to his/her listings.
So, from the DB, the design goal is to provision a MANAGEMENT & CONTROL PANEL from which Subscribers can not only manage the services available from our two (2) core services (i.e. personal classified advertisements & tenders), but also have a sense of the popularity of how their posts are perceived by others.
It should be noted, too, that Subscribers should be encouraged to upload to assistme® TV (http://www.assistme.tv) a personal video relevant to their publication and to embed its link directly into their Classified Advertisement or Tender (i.e, reverse auction).
Finally, from the DB, Subscribers will have the opportunity either to INVITE potential Contractors/Supplier to their Tender (or, reverse auction) or to leave the Tender OPEN to all potential Contractors/Suppliers; which will produce a personal directory for future reference.
 LIST AN ITEM (LIST of CATEGORIES) PAGE
When a Subscriber selects from the DB to publish either a Classified Advertisement or a Tender, the system produces a LIST OF CATEGORIES (LoC) page which must be integrated within the context of the Dashboard navigation.
As the LoC currently contains images of what topics (i.e. categories) the system will publish, these categories will need to be represented in a way that is both creative, elegant, and economic (so as not to overwhelm the page with text. That is, as each category would need to be represented visually, each visual image would need to be built upon the foundation provided by the logo (if and when possible). Otherwise, the images could be replaced with text (if the design calls for it).
Similarly as the LoC provides both a "PARENT" (or, topical) category as well as a "CHILD" (or, sub-topic) category/categories, the manner in which the PARENT & CHILD categories are to be represented should be interpreted as an essential and UNIQUE element to the design of of this page]. Accordingly, the layout of the LoC page is not a small concern; but, should differentiate itself from the manner in which any other online Classified Ad portal may have published its categories. While Java (or similar) tools would be welcome, the design would need to be mild (again, favoring older Subscribers).
 PERSONAL CLASSIFIEDS LISTINGS PAGE
Search results will be published in a LISTINGS PAGE; from where Site Users may select a published listing. Therefore, the design elements of the Listing Page should also make full use of the assistme® logo; as well as our genie Mascot, "Sam"!
Kindly notice, however, that, as we no longer have access to the original file for our genie mascot, a new EPS file will need to be "re-crafted".
As the essential elements of this page (as well as any other page) are simplicity, elegance and parsimonious use of graphics (as we wish to use graphics only insofar as they would be needed to lend attention to the publications posted on the site), it must be understood that the design for [assistme.com] should not over-power the listings (i.e., the search results) and any imagery they will likely contain; but rather to bring attention to the publications listed.
 SITE WRAP (SR)
The SR should provide the design elements needed to integrate any other page linked to the DB navigation from which publications will be purchased and managed.
