thestrongforce got their new web page design (coded) by running a design contest:
TheRandomStore.com needs a website
Check out thestrongforce's Web Page Design (Coded) contest…
We had a contest for our logo a few weeks back and loved the results. Now we want the designers of sitepoint to create our website. To recap what our website does: We're a gift giving website that enables people to order random gifts within a price range they choose. The gifts are either totally random or random within a chosen category (like a random DVD).
What's your vision?
Desired Color Scheme: We don't have any set color scheme Desired Style: Again, we aren't sure what we want, please surprise us. However there are 2 ideas we've kicked around. One is using a style similar to www.zoomerang.com (you'll need to actually log into it to see what we like). Here's what we like about it: Very slee Accepted File Formats: html, css We had a contest for our logo a few weeks back and loved the results. Now we want the designers of sitepoint to create our website. To recap what our website does: We're a gift giving website that enables people to order random gifts within a price range they choose. The gifts are either totally random or random within a chosen category (like a random DVD). Besides our logo, the site needs to include the following: 1. The most prominent & featured thing should be a place that says: "Totally Random" & "Semi Random". These are the 2 links for buying a random gift. 2. The 2nd most prominent thing on the page should be some sort of box that says around it: "Random Gift du Jour". This is where we will display a different product every day that customers can choose to buy and know what they're getting. There should be a price & several lines of description of the item next to it. 3. Somewhere on the page there needs to be a link for "Examples of gifts sent to customers of The Random Store. 4. Again, somewhere on the page: a link "See The Random Store Youtube videos" 5. A box with a field for entering your email address if you want to receive our newsletter. It should say "Enter your email address here to receive our newsletter (filled with special offers, discounts, and news of exciting new random services offered by us). 6. Somewhere on the page (I was imagining upper right corner) a sign that says "First time here? Click here to find out what we're all about." 7. Along the top and bottom we need links for the standard stuff: About us, FAQ, Legal Stuff, Contact Us 8. We also need space for a column of google ads. Let me emphasize that we're very open to improvements and changes to our ideas. If you think some idea or inclusion/exclusion is better than that list, please feel free to submit it. The winner we chose for our last contest was nothing like what we described in our instructions, which just proves we don't know what we want. With that said, here are a few guidelines. We're primary an e-commerce site. We need the site to be easy to use and simple to figure out. We need it to be easy to be indexed by major search engines. We need to be able to update the site regularly (especially The Random Item du Jour). We'd like the site to look good in multiple browsers. Lastly, we're looking potentially to set up a long term relationship with a designer we can continue to use for this and future projects. Here are a few color variations on our logo. Use whichever works best with your design. http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/3982/originalwhiteshadowyt5.gif http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/772/bluedn8.gif http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/9198/whiteen7.gif Lastly, we don't need a shopping cart or anything like that, we'll be using a 3rd party system that we'll implement. We just need the html + css.
