pgorry got their new web page design (coded) by running a design contest:
$300 - Fitness Web Application (***VIDEO NOW WORKS***)
Check out pgorry's Web Page Design (Coded) contest…
I need to put together what I am calling an advanced prototype for my fitness diary website. The demo currently has 4 distinct pages to it, each with some individual component parts.
What's your vision?
Tagline: Making Fitness Addictive Desired Color Scheme: Completely open to suggestions and that includes changing the logo colour Desired Style: here are my key design tags: Optimized for 1024x768 HTML\CSS, table-less (as much as possible) Non-techy look and feel ease of use beautiful!!! fast loading (small images or css for buttons) non cluttered ajax, web 2.0 style (http://www.fontshop Accepted File Formats: Initial entries are fine as JPEG/GIF Screenshots. Final winner needs to be HTML & CSS (Ie5.5+ & Firefox tested) Warning!! This is going to be a very challenging, but ultimately rewarding competition, with few rules, outside of the box thinking and almost anything goes!! After reading this brief I highly recommend that you watch the following video that shows the current site in action. While its a very early prototype it gives a good idea of what I need. http://www.thefitnessdiary.com/sitepoint/ The website is going to be designed to feel like a desktop application and will eventually rely heaving on AJAX and will look web 2.0 (see description below). My logo. I ran a competition on Sitepoint a while back the site logo and this is what was chosen as the winner. http://www.thefitnessdiary.com/sitepoint/logo.html I still love the icon part of it, but the text never really won me over. Obviously this is not an icon design comp but if you keep this icon in mind and if you want to suggest any changes to it to better fit your site design feel free. If you do any major change to it make it more Web 2.0 there will be a financial bonus in it for you. I am hoping to run this website in a slightly un-orthodox method. Rather than expecting an entirely perfect website to be built completely before announcing a winner I am going to reward the designer who comes up with the best concept design and matches what I have in my head (but what I cannot put down on paper!). So the person who gets 50% of the site and controls designed just as I want has a better chance as someone who designs all the pages but does not hit the sweet spot. I am NOT (in case you dont gather) a graphic designer although I do know what I like and dont like when I see it. The winner may be someone who takes my current layout and blows me away with a makeover, and likewise it might be someone who comes from left field with a brand new layout idea. I would suggest incremental releases of your design, rather spending a lot of time doing the entire site. I will be able to give you pretty quick feedback on your design and if I would like to see more of it being developed. An initial screen shot of the main page (weekly view) template with 1st draft of icons, countdown and graph would be ideal. Deliverables: I will need the prototype to be coded into HTML & CSS. As its only a prototype and not the finished article in the near future I would be hoping to commission the winner to design the rest of the pages for the site. At the very minimum the winner will need to have provided: - the weekly and monthly and daily diary pages - a ajax hover div, that displays more detail when you hove over a monthly entry - the icons for the main menu - the countdown timer - one data entry page. - the confirm dialog box - a mockup of a graph, potentially using this component (http://www.web-site-scripts.com/flash-charts/chart-gallery.html)
