What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I am looking for a tattoo design of St. Michael the Archangel. Ideally, I would like something unique, modern, and bold compared to the typical illustrations used to portray him. I will be getting the tattoo in black and gray, so no color is necessary - proper shading and depth are very important to give contrast given the lack of color. I am looking for him to be kneeling down facing forward (almost like in prayer) with his broadsword in front of him. I would like his wings to be curled back behind him where they are noticeable, but not distracting. I would like him to be wearing a cloak with a hood that covers most of his face - please refer to the image below 'cloak hood look'. I am going for a realistic human look, nothing too cartoonish or too far down the fantasy lane. I think the style of 'Assassins Creed' in their heroes is a good reference. I would like him to have some light armor on under the cloak. He should have a strong build. Not overly bulky, but strong and study. The sword in front of him should be a focal point and an object of great detail. The base 'look' of the sword should be in the style of a traditional broadsword - large and menacing. The pommel of the sword I leave up to creative license, but I was thinking some sort of cross would be cool. I also leave the hilt up to creativity as well. Something unique that stands out would be great. Finally, down the length of the sword, I would like an inscription to read 'By the power of God, I shall defend' - the more the text can 'pop' the better.
The hilt and pommel of the sword should reach up to around the center of the chest while he is kneeling. The placement of the tattoo will be on the back of my shoulder/upper back to help complete a sleeve on my right side. The finished size of the tattoo will be around 9 inches tall if I had to guess, but I'd like this large enough where I can expand or grow the size depending on the final location.
