Godly Wear
We are a new media agency looking to get into the ethnic fashion market starting with t-shirts, and hope to move onto other fashion items and home decoration.
We are a new media company looking to enter into the t-shirt market by creating stylized ethnic wear for the North American South Asian Diaspora market. We want to take some of the key symbols of Eastern religions but adapt it into western styles to be worn in western contexts. The symbols should represent some of the Eastern values, but be transformed for the Western context.
We would like to start by taking the famous 'Dancing Nataraja' symbol a form of the Hindu Lord Shiva and have it represented in a stylistic western format so that it can be seen on a black t-shirt and worn underneath a blazer or with a pair of jeans in a semi-formal setting.
We are looking for cutting edge designs that use minimal colours (colours that work best with a black background) and should be subtle enough to not be noticed on first glance, but on further examination, the actual 'Nataraja' figure should be noticed.
The key text on the image should be "DANCE FURIOUSLY", as the story goes Lord Shiva became furious with his enemy and danced shaking the world with his steps, and opening his third eye of fury and dancing on his enemy. So this story should be told in the design that you submit.
I don't want to give more direction than that, because I don't want to curb the creative process. You guys are the ones with the talent, but I hope you understand the theme now. I've attached a few pictures of a stylistic Nataraja just for your reference. Please do not copy the colour schemes in the pictures--keep in mind that this is to go on a black shirt. But it is just for you to have a background on what the image looks like. I am also pasting the link to the wikipedia entry on the Nataraja story for your background information.
