Create bold design for Go Red For Women E-commerce products

American Heart Assoc needed a new t-shirt design and created a contest on 99designs.

The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary heart health organization in the U.S. and funds more research in the area of cardiovascular disease than anyone outside the government.

In 2004, the AHA launched Go Red For Women, a movement surrounding the issue of heart disease – the No. 1 killer of women each year. The campaign has grown momentum each year drawing survivors, and those who have been affected by the heart disease of their loved ones. The goal of Go Red For women is to mobilize women to take action for this women’s issue in many ways from changing their own lifestyle, to sharing their stories, to donating to the cause.

The symbol of the movement of women and heart disease is the Red Dress.

Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach

Our audience is women 25-55 with our sweet spot in the 35-45 range. These are women who have all been personally touched by heart disease –either themselves or someone they care about (family, friends, men or women).
*85% are touched by heart disease
*68% have two or more risk factors
*11% are heart disease survivors
Because of their personal connection to heart disease, they truly understand the URGENCY associated with heart disease diagnosis/treatment and the IMPORTANCE of prevention. Donate time or money, are involved in heart health causes, are passionate about helping others reach their same level of knowledge and commitment. They’re not shy about sharing their experiences – both good and bad – with everyone… and they have countless platforms (online and off) to do so.


We’d like to see a design created that would be perfect for a women’s t-shirt, but that could also be flexible enough so that with a little manipulation would fit on a coffee mug or a baseball cap.

*It's unacceptable to print the Red Dress reversed completely out to white. When using the Red Dress, either within the logo brand or alone, the Red Dress must be printed in red or in a white outline format.
*The Red Dress icon may only be printed in PANTONE® 485 (PMS 485), or the CMYK (four-color process) equivalent of 100% Magenta and 100% Yellow, if used without the Go Red For Women® logo.The Go Red For Women Logo is not mandatory, but if not used, it is preferred to find a way to incorporate the URL, or the Red Dress.

Personality and Tone:
Go Red For Women is a cause for women who are passionate for the movement and the color red is a symbol of the fire in these women who are strong and vocal. At the core of this movement is sisterhood of women who support each other and stand up for each other. Though this movement has a serious side, the products we sell can provide the fun and flirty side of the movement.
