Tara Gozay got their new t-shirt by running a design contest:
Check Brief for Sketch! Congrats finalists on Making it to this Round!
Check out Tara Gozay's T-shirt contest…
2 shirt types: White crop top for women Black fitted tee for men. Change colors accordingly so it can be read from far away. 3 fonts: Big bold font (cursive or print) Neon blue Printed font for Men - neon pink Cursive font for women handwritten font for Dervish the Whirlish and Tony Mitts. Neon blue for black t-shirts, black or dark gray for white t-shirts. small cursive font for Tara Gozay Feminist Pop Records Drawings: painted, hand-drawn, cartoon, or detailed silhouette 1 thing - important to make Dervish physically chasing his tail, and Tony should look like he is walking around the shirt. A small mud puddle or paint puddle might be a cool touch actually so you can see why he has paw prints. Make sure Dervish is out of the paw print path, he’s just off doing his own thing
Design Concept and Requirements: Words Front: When life gets you down, Words Back: Spiiin Arooouund! <-- make sure to include a microphone emoji in front of "Spiiin" and a music note emoji at the end of "Arooouund!". The words "Tara Gozay" and "Feminist Pop Records" should be in very light cursive font below Spiiin Arooouund like this Sting t-shirt here: https://poshmark.com/listing/Faded-red-guitar-Tshirt-5b66069c8ad2f9b213c39299 This is a new part of my branding so I will not accept a design that does not include this small detail. I will be adding the design to this website: TaraGozay.Bandcamp.com so look at my CDs and singles to make sure it fits in. Pictures front: I need a cartoon of my tuxedo cat Tony Mitts (use pictures included for reference) walking from left to right, lower right of the t-shirt, below the centered words "When life gets you down". Words are a little larger than the picture. Lower left to the lower middle of the front will have the dirty paw prints trailing behind him. His feet should look visibly dirty. He is wearing a black bow, white collar so he looks like he is wearing a suit. He has a mostly black and narrow face, angled green eyes, white mitts, a white chest, and a black body. It is important that these paw prints continue to the back so it appears that the cat is walking around the person. I will select the design that has the greatest sense of movement in the image, despite being a stagnant photo. Don't forget the small black arrow and a little handwritten font saying "Tony Mitts --> ". Pictures Back: Dirty cat paw prints across bottom from left to right. They should be whole paw prints and not be cut off at the seams. There will also be my dog Dervish, who is a red doberman. Feel free to check "red doberman" https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/doberman-pinscher/ and "dog chasing tail" on google images here for the body type. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/dog-chasing-its-tail-sourcing-graphic-design.html His ears and tail are cropped and he is mahogany and light brown, with a pink nose. A small handwritten label for the dog (same font as the Tony Mitts label) "Dervish the Whirlish -->" Background info: Dervish was named after Turkish dancers who literally spin around so watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PFnPJabeFI and Spin Around is the name of my 2020 8-track multi-genre singer-songwriter album. https://taragozay.bandcamp.com/album/spin-around My most feminist song is probably Heart of Gold. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0yXiZgBvhw Music video here for more images of spinning and inspiration, the Official Spin Around Music Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OChHYeTXbRY Design Summary: Front: When life gets you down, . . . . paw prints . . . Tony Mitts --> <tuxedo cat walking to the right> Back: <microphone emoji> "Spiiin Arooouund!" <music note emoji> -Tara Gozay Feminist Pop Records Dervish the Whirlish --> <Dervish chasing tail> I would like to be able to put this design on white or black shirts using the site Art of Where, from XS women's to 2XL mens, so please think about that when creating the color scheme and sizing ratios. A hot pink, bright, or gray color might work best for the word font. I have a feeling with the darker colors though it will work best on a white t-shirt, but I know black t-shirts sell better (especially considering almost all the ones I own are black!). I will need it in vector form so it does not have a background and thus the t-shirt fabric will show through the design nicely. This design will be used for both crop tops and normal t-shirts, women's and men's. I will not accept designs that copy this person's work directly, but here is a women's cropped t-shirt from Art of Where for inspiration. I love the paw prints. https://artofwhere.com/artists/rdesigns2020/clothing/athletic-crop-top/3349231 Logo should be small and located next to "Feminist Pop Records," about the same height as the cursive font. This logo will also be displayed on the t-shirt label :) If you can modify this logo to have Feminist Pop Records written over it, that would be amazing, just please send me a high resolution file of the modified to firstname.lastname@example.org if you do so (I haven't made the t-shirt tags yet).
What to avoid
They should be whole paw prints and not be cut off at the seams. No black dobermans. Only mahogany and light brown for doberman colors. The cat should not be full black. Must include white chest and black bowtie. Avoid uneven spacing, give the design detail but space to breathe Hard-to-read font. Don't make it too dark - I would prefer hot pink, light blue, and/or medium-light gray font so it shows up nicely on both white and black t-shirts. If the large font is all three colors for a 3D effect, that's great. -Tony Mitts’s feet are white! That’s why he has “Mitts” in his name!
