markrtibbetts got their new sticker by running a design contest:
Something that Pops to Encourage Mercury-added Light bulb Recycling
Check out markrtibbetts's Sticker contest…
NEMA is a national trade association representing North American manufacturers of electrical equipment. NEMA manages a mercury-added (Fluorescent) lamp (light bulb) recycling program on behalf of lamp manufacturers in Maine and Vermont. This recycling program targets retail consumers who seek options to comply with state law and properly dispose of spent mercury-added lamps through a network of manufacturer funded recycling locations at retail stores (but not big-box retail) and transfer stations/town dumps.
What's your vision?
We need a design for a 6x6 window cling sticker (either a static or removable adhesive cling). The purpose of the items is primarily to promote the availability of fluorescent lamp recycling at a retail location (most typically a local independent hardware store or franchises like a True Value or Ace). The cling will be placed on the interior of the window by the entrance typically. It will be used longer-term and is not tied to a specific promotion. Retailers voluntarily participate in the program and we need signage that is generic enough to be used by a variety of retail locations. Attached below is an image of the previous cling. I'd like something with a little more pop. Use of images of typical mercury-added lamps (compact fluorescent, or tubes) and if possible messaging that fluorescent lamps contain mercury/need to be recycled is desired (but nothing to suggest they are dangerous, as that is not the case!).
Following this project, I anticipate requesting the winning designer to create a second item-- a shelf-talker (4-6) to increase awareness of the need to recycle. We intend for this item to be placed in the lighting/light bulb section of participating retail establishments.
