We felt like the designer did a great job in listening what we wanted. The designer took the suggestions we made and implemented them for us in a timely manner, must faster than the others designers in the contest. We really appreciated his versatility and creativity. Very satisfied.

Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) is an international trade association specializing in the certification of the performance of residential ventilating products such as bathroom exhaust fans, kitchen range hoods, et al. HVI is widely recognized as the authority on mechanical ventilation. HVI's member companies manufacture more than 90% of the ventilating products sold in North America. Everyone who builds, maintains, or lives in a home or apartment anywhere in North America is within our target audience.

Whole house mechanical ventilation systems, or “dwelling unit ventilation systems” ("DUV") as they are now called within the ventilation industry, are now installed widely in new tightly-constructed single family and multifamily dwelling units.
Despite the widespread adoption and installation of DUV systems, a large percentage of homeowners, code enforcement officials, builders and contractors still know very little about these new systems or their vital role in maintaining healthy indoor air. Recognizing this knowledge gap, we are developing a logo to be printed on labels/stickers and affixed to these systems’ controls. Basically, we are talking about developing an icon/symbol that consumers will be able to look at and recognize that there is a mechanical system in their house or apartment which provides a continuous flow of fresh air to maintain healthy living conditions in the entire living space. We want the logo/label/icon to be as "universal" as possible so that it could, if necessary, be understood without descriptive text. A well-designed symbol has the advantage of being more aesthetically pleasing than a text-based label and more applicable/meaningful to a wider audience. Ultimately, we are striving to create a symbol for industry-wide use in order to increase consumer awareness of and demand for the function and benefits of DUV systems.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Though we want the graphic to “stand alone”, all logo designs submitted MUST incorporate the following text: “Ventilation System” and “www.HVI.org/DUV”. PLEASE DO NOT USE the acronym 'DUV' as part of your logo design. We are looking for a graphic representation of the ventilation system for the logo. We do NOT want the label to just show stylized letters.
