We sell historical tables that stem from a magnificent tree that recently fell down (forest fire) and that we traced to 1492. We also educate about it. This is when Columbus set sail for America and this tree 'witnessed' everything that happened after that point in history. Thus, our brand: Discovery Tree. We also sell woodwork such as wooden coasters and other items. Neil deGrasse Tyson has called the Columbus voyage “the most significant thing to ever happen in our species.” Here’s a snippet of our branding: “At Discovery Tree we don’t erase history. We make it. We’ve crafted beautiful and historical tables from an American Juniper tree that was born in 1492, the year Columbus discovered America, and felled in 2002 due to a forest fire. Own a living timeline of American history produced by a master craftsman. Don’t erase history. Own it.” Our tables are pricey. All of our work is handcrafted.

We want to include a Spanish-Templar flagged ship like the one Columbus would have sailed in (no circle in the center). Let me be clear: we are open to other visions. But we do like the sense of discovery and adventure found in the image of a ship, and find that hard to beat. Side angles of a ship (or slight side angles) make it more recognizable as a ship, versus a head-on look. The D and T must be more prominent than the other letters. They MUST also be interposed (interlocking) onto each other. This means the font cannot be too 'busy.' The font you select is incredibly important. We prefer NO recognizable "modern" fonts. Our business is 500+ years in the making. Please review some of the ideas for fonts in my images above. Please also take a look at Merienda font and other Spanish fonts. I would love to see any color pallet before excluding in the slightest. The colors are important, and will likely influence our website and other branding. You’ll be contributing to our whole brand with your art. I know there are many browns above, and that's nice, but we could imagine other palettes. You could even have a brown logo with a splash of red for the Templar sails, for example. You can view the attached PDF for our pitiful attempt at coming up with an idea ourselves.
