Community & Non-Profit
An Atlantic Ocean rowing expedition from Africa to South America to raise money for a dementia charity. The logo will be used on our website, social media, marketing brochures, team clothing and possibly the boat. The primary audience will be corporate sponsors to raise expedition funding and the public to raise charity funding. We are wish to put across an image of adventure, danger and of an inspirational challenge - but not in an overbearing macho way. We do not want the image to be overly corporate (i.e. not like a traditional law firm, consultancy etc).
Other color requirements
I am considering the website colour scheme from a SquareSpace template (see attached image). If not this scheme, it is likely to be something similarly blue/nautical. The main banner image will likely be a zoomed out ocean shot with a boat in the distance (so colours will probably dark blue ocean). This isn't set in stone but worth bearing in mind. Open to designer suggestions.
The logo should incorporate the expedition name ("Forget Me Knot") and probably the slogan "Atlantic Row" (although I'd be open to seeing designs without the slogan). I generally like logos that are a combination of the words and pictoral / abstract mark. It would be interesting to see the wording combined with some of the below symbols/themes but I'm also very open to designer suggestions. It is likely the logo will be used on clothing and the boat itself so should not be overly complex or an illustration. As inspiration for the images/marks to be included: Ocean rowing boats are of a particular style and are sometimes incorporated or used in rowing expedition logos (Google: "Ocean Rowing Boat Rannoch45"). 'Forget Me Knot' is an abstract reference to dementia (the cause we are raising funding for) but also is a flower which it might be nice to draw inspiration from (Google: "Forget me not flower"). The 'Knot' part of the expedition name is reference to the nautical theme, it may be nice to include a reef knot or other nautical knot (Google: reef knot or sailing knots). There is an obvious ocean theme: waves, (ocean rowing) oars or other ocean-related imagery may be good to include. I have "liked" a lot of logos on 99designs but I don't know how to share what I've liked...I'm happy to share if someone can tell me how! There are a list of similar expeditions here: https://www.taliskerwhiskyatlanticchallenge.com/race_entrants/. I do not think there are any fantastic logos on their websites but it may serve as some inspiration as to what is involved in our expedition. The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge website do a good job of putting across the adventure/danger/inspirational image that we wish to (but they're logo isn't great)
