This style will appeal to edgy, modern parents who spend weekends organizing community events and have a rebellious streak.
This resource is both a website and organization providing in-depth parenting and education think-pieces, focusing around picture book suggestions for modern, innovative families with kids ages 0-6. We focusing on social issues, diversity, controversial and tough-to-discuss topics like death and sex with honesty, integrity, and some irreverent humor.
Our readers are known as the Benevolent Incendiaries, and we aim to ignite a new generation of kind and brilliant kids (luminaries) who are willing to reject tradition and fight against injustice.
Since we try to be inclusive of all races, abilities, genders, and sizes, I'd like to steer clear of depicting any specific type of person, and would prefer to leave out people entirely. If a person needs to be depicted, it would be great to make a child more abstract so we can represent all kids, rather than one specific demographic.
Since we actively seek to boost more diversity in children's books and the market is already saturated with books for and about white boys, I cannot accept a logo highlighting only a white male child. If the logo MUST include a child, please aim for non-binary genders (or at least female), people of color, and various disabilities such as arm crutches (wheelchairs are too obvious), earmuffs (for auditory sensitivities) and screen communication devices. Other examples include facial differences like vitiligo, limb differences, etc. Please no stereotypes.
