How joshlangston started their logo & social media pack journey
Who are you known as?
Men's Health Virginia
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our goal is to re-think healthcare for men. To target healthcare to men the way that retail and service companies have targeted this market. We are doctors branding and advertising our services in a way that men find approachable and intriguing, "cool", or worth investigating further. We want a distinct, strong, masculine brand. Ideally not too heavily dependent on color, or at least with elements such that it will still do well in black and white (paper documents and newspaper, etc) **there are others trying to make money competing in this space, but not providing the highest quality "service" to male patients; our advantage is that we are (1) experts in this field with decades of experience (2) academic professors (working with a medical school) (3) professional/ethical --- the winning design needs to combine: something that will catch the eye and attention of middle-aged working-class men with something that conveys the expertise and quality that we provide
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Medical & Pharmaceutical
What colors do you want to see in your design?

the shield or seal is similar to university logo to convey academic authority yet is appealing to men (most craft beer logos seem to be along these lines!)
probably too complex and busy but does have some strong royal and masculine elements
Thanks everyone for your patience and efforts. We are busy doctors with no experience in the design world so it has been hard for us to keep up with the time deadlines. We reviewed the recent submissions and like the direction but we realized that we need to emphasize the ways that we are different from our competition --- we are the experienced experts in the field and academic professors with decades of experience. We want to make sure that the brand will convey this to both the working-class men in our area that we hope to attract, as well as be worthy of display on presentations at national academic meetings and publications. I wonder if it would be possible to combine the atlas symbol of "manliness" with the seal/shield to convey university/academic/professional vibe? one option.
I presented the designs to our group and they liked them but none that they "loved" .. I think it helped them understand what they wanted and this is reflected in the updated attachments. In order for this to work on a variety of materials (large and small logo) it will need to be not complicated, and I think we can get the image across with simple artwork.
Our target will be more 'blue-collar' than affluent based on regional demographics, The target age group is men in their 40s-70s. Probably best for it not to be too busy or complex?
