Ben Minutoli got their new signage by running a design contest:
Will you be the one that will design our very first outdoor billboard?

At Geelong Cable Locations we go out to site and show customers where the underground cables and pipes are buried so when they do there digging they don't cut anything. So another words, say for example you are installing a new front fence at your house. Well before you can start using the mechanical post hole digger to dig down the new post holes for the fence you really should first find out what is underground so you don't damage anything, because the last thing you want to do is hit a gas pipe or a power cable or anything else really that may be underground.
What's your vision?
In Austrlia we have a hardware store called Bunnings. It is one of the biggest and most well known hardware stores. I have leased a sign that is against a wall in the car park of the local Bunnings store near us. What I would like is a sign drawn up that is going to get the attention of the customers that go to Bunnings and remind them that they need to know what is underground before they do any digging at there site. The sign itself is 3m long and 1.5m high
to get more ideas on who we are and what we do head to our website which is www.geelongcablelocations.com.au I have attached photos of the car park itself. The sign is to go up on the yellow bricked wall near where the other signs are. I need the sign to be clear enough to be able to read it or atleast get someones attention when they are walking out of the hardware store (I have taken a few photos of the signs from back there to give you a guide to how far the distance is. I have also attached all my logos, cartoons and other designs that I have had made up in the past for other marketing we have done. I did tell a group recently that I was going to do this sign and they suggested a few different ideas, there was one I did like that was wording saying; 'Don't be that guy' and then you have the cartoon I have of the backhoe cutting the cables 'call us before you dig' But I haven't done any outside advertising as yet, well other than the sign writing on the cars, but they are just basic, so I am pretty open to any suggestions you may have. To give you an idea on ROI, the cost to have a sign there is $1,100 for 12 months, I have had a quote of $650 to get the sign made up (although I haven't told them what i want on it yet, so that might change) This contest is costing $200 and then there is the cost to get it installed, which I am guessing will be around $300. We charge $300 to find all the cables onsite for someone, so this sign you are making needs to get me at least 8 jobs otherwise it will be a waste of money. So I am hoping your design will be the difference between them calling me to do the job compared to me just putting our logo up on the sign and hoping we get calls from it. If you still have further questions then don't hesitate to ask. Thanks Ben
