This logo was created for a hackathon society at the University of Surrey. Surrey's "mascot" is a stag, so the client expressely asked for such design.

A stag is, for me, an emblem of elegance and speed. To convey this feeling, I opted for a "curved" design showing only the silhouette of the stag, in a very deep contrast with the red background.

As for the typography, I wanted a modern and solid font which is partly bold (Hack) and partly Italic Thin (Surrey). Again, the main idea was to create a contrast between strength and elegance, boldness and pride against lightness and vitality.
