The author had started writing poetry at an early age on the advice of his adoptive mother, he had a troubled youth so writing poetry was an outlet for his thoughts and emotions.

Design was inspired by the author's portrait picture, he had tattoos on his chest that featured feathers. This idea was played with in order to symbolically represent his thoughts and feelings.

Author had considered the design 'off brief' despite there not being much of a brief to begin with and this being within the style of one of the covers chosen as reference... poetic indeed.
