This was a deeply challenging project, because of the vastness, depth, and historical significance of its subject. Corpus Christi — the body of the Christ. This mark was created for an established US-based church, in Chatham, NJ. Having explored a number of directions, we circled down upon this. A bold, courageous, non-conventional mark. I wanted to create something that would stand above millennia. But also something alive. I set my mind to journey, back through so many pathways, to the centre of the labyrinth of Christianity. Along the way, the jolts informed the mark. It is cut. Like the body of the Christ was cut. In one part, it ascends. Like the body of the Christ ascended. It looks outward. Across a landscape. Across history. It draws the viewer to interpret. To understand. And beyond these characteristics, it is silent and permanent.
