For a modern political blog/site I think you need to draw upon a lot of the equity created by the globalists and conspiracists alike.
This bridges the gap between the UN branding, classic soviet constructivist propaganda material, cold-war americana, and global corporation brand identities.
The brand palette is urban, modern, and corporate.
The graphics have been roughened up a bit to give them some texture, ageing them aesthetically.
This should work for all the contexts and screens a new brand will be looking to fill.
