The brand is inspired by the enigma machine, a cryptography device used by the Germans in WWII and broken by the English. The client requested the three separate labels with the top label having an encoded message. For the main label, I created a grid of letters containing the brand name "Enigma" as well as other words related to this particular wine and the decoded version of the top label. Then I proposed having a hang tag with a holes punched in it (a Cardan Grille cipher) that when laid over the front label would reveal the brand name.
