Lodewijk is a coffee shop that serves coffee and sandwiches on the go / sit down. The name it is based on the 17th century naval hero Lodewijk van Heiden.

BRIEF
The client was looking for a logo representing Lodewijk van Heiden and offered a portrait for reference.

DESIGN PROCESS
"Lodewijk van Heiden having a coffee" was the concept I presented to the client.

I used an old portrait of Lodewijk van Heiden as a reference to create the character for this design. Then I added the arm and the cup of coffee to complete the idea.

The client requested only 2 modifications: a half smile on the face of the character (in the original portrait he is very serious) and that I specifically use that yellow color in the design, as a background for the character.

Once this was done, the project was complete.
