This illustration can be depicted in many ways. To me, flowers depict "Love", "Guilt", "Inside", and "Mischief". Depending on a person's mood, flowers can act as a symbol to show, love and grief on a large scale but can be used to express many other expressions.
Leaves and flowers (combined with the circle surrounding the woman) can also symbolize growth and healing. The woman could represent the Author. The circles/blush on her cheek are to show that she is going through emotions and if you look closely, her earring is the symbol of Yin-yang which is an ancient symbol for the balance/harmony of light and dark or good and bad (like the emotions mentioned)

The fonts are clean and simple and overall the book design is minimal.

The style of the drawing is also to emphasize the 'Raw' emotion. It is not meant to be perfect.
