Double Down is a crime/mystery novel set in the 1970s pre-cocaine Cowboy era in Miami, Florida.

Sunshine, liquor, sex and drugs. It's 1970's Miami and Mark Wharton is getting his share of each, working for a fly-by-night wrecker service with a lucrative sideline business providing party drugs to the tourists on Miami Beach.

After a bad night and a drunken car wreck, Mark finds himself linked to the sudden death of a business regular, a pretty stewardess with a taste for drugs and booze whose last contact was with Mark before she took a dive off a beachfront highrise. Pressed into snitch service by an unscrupulous Miami detective who wants to bring Mark's bosses down for his own reasons, Mark must figure out who has his back, and who's playing for themselves in a race against time...
