Grounds for Coffee is a small chain of local coffee shops in Utah, incidentally a state where coffee drinking is shunned by 50% of the state's population due to its Mormon beliefs. So our target audience tends to be a bit left of center politically but not always. Coffee drinkers in general are pretty serious about getting a great cup of coffee every day. We do this in our shops and are now excited for this new opportunity to bring it directly our customers in their homes via the grocery store. We are NOT coffee snobs and want to make selecting a great bag of coffee beans fun and easy. Our product is on par, or better, than anything else on the grocery store shelves. Our price will be on the upper end of what is already available from other local roasters but the value and quality is there to support it. We have good name recognition locally and need a bag that will POP off the grocery store shelves. (We have included a photo from our local grocer.) Be as creative as possible while still accomplishing effective communication with the customer about our coffee. At Grounds for Coffee we strive to be a positive influence on our customers each morning, to inspire them to enjoy the daily pleasure of a high quality coffee beverage made by friendly, knowledgeable, and caring baristas in their neighborhood. We want to convey that same experience to our grocery store customers at home.
What's your vision?
We are looking for a coffee bag design that will stand out from the other bags of coffee currently on the retail shelves. (See attached photo of retail shelves and also the template for the bag layout please note where certain items will need to be place) Our logo colors are bright yellow (no specific color yellow), white, and black. With coffee being typically a morning beverage we thought the use of sun graphic with our logo in the center might look nice. However, this is only an idea and not mandatory. We have the option of printing on coffee bags with a high gloss or matte finish and full color printing process. We need a bag that customers will be drawn to pick up and purchase in the grocery store as well as enjoy seeing on their kitchen counter each morning. Important!--We want to convey quality with a high end printed bag but keep the feel of a local small batch roaster. Other items that will need to go on the bag are as follows: 1. Grounds for Coffee logo--attached 2. We will be using the bag for 3 types of coffee. Each bag will list the type of beans and description prominently on the front. The coffee types are; Italian Roast Powerful, full-bodied flavor in a rich dark roast Colombian Supremo Well balanced medium roast with perfect sweetness. Highlander Grogg A delightful flavor blend of Irish Cream and Orange Brandy You only need to design one variety for the bag but make allowances for each variety to fit the layout. 3. Here's the main copy for the back of the bag: Good Morning! Time for coffee—the divine elixir that clears your head, sharpens your senses, and brings the day into focus. At Grounds for Coffee we've been brewing fresh roasted coffees for over 20 years with an uncommon commitment to our community. Brew coffee using 2 tablespoons of freshly ground coffee and 6 oz of water (between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit) per serving adjusting to your own preferences. Enjoy immediately for one of life’s simplest pleasures. Bottom of the bag: 7. on the template attached see the designated an area for a upc code on the bottom of the bag along with another area for a small expiration date stamp. Use the wording “Best By:”
Other comments; please note that the bag will have a de-gassing valve. See template for placement options. Also the top of the bag will be folded over and secured with clear tape, the visible print area for the 12 oz bag is about 5 1/2 inches above the line denoting the bottom fold. There is a black dotted line indicating the area that will be visible when the bag is filled and sealed. Do not design anything critical above the black dotted line on either side as it will not be visible when the bag is sealed and on the grocery store shelf. The area above the dotted line will be visible once the bag is unfolded and opened and could contain some kind of surprise (graphically speaking) for the consumer upon opening. If you have any ideas for customizing the bag to the coffee inside; Colombian, Italian Roast, or Highlander Grogg feel free to make suggestions for it.
