Description of the product
Hey, you creative minds! We are Ouroots Africa, the sustainable, compostable and plastic-free alternative to conventional plastic straws. Ouroots Africa was founded in 2019 by motivated entrepreneurs of the Social Innovation Academy (SINA) in Uganda. SINA shows disadvantaged young people and refugees a way, tools and way of thinking to design a vision for their future and to create new solutions in the form of social enterprises with benefits for society and the environment. Ouroots Africa was born! We are a social company that wants to improve the world by offering natural and sustainable alternatives to disposable plastics. We approach the plastic problem from the root of the problem: production. All our products are grown from local plants, harvested and harvested by local farmers. Our inspiration lies both in the past and in the future – by returning to the natural products that our grandparents used, we can offer our children a better and cleaner future. That’s why we’re going back to the roots! The Ugandan Luseke Gras The Luseke grass grows throughout the year and can be harvested after short periods. That’s why our farmers can sell several lots of Luseke every year, making it a very attractive plant for them. It is an endemic plant in our nature, which means that it belongs to the Ugandan ecosystem. But the best thing about Luseke Grass is that it is naturally hollow-shaped, making it the best choice for our natural and compostable drinking straws! Ouroots Africa goes international! Big visions start small - We have set ourselves the goal of expanding into the USA in 2021 and selling on an international platform. What we are missing is a funky design that stands out from the crowd and highlights the special features of Ouroots Africa. We have come across 99 designs and are now counting on you! Description of the product target audience
Our target group includes people who value our environment and are socially inclined, but they still like to buy high-quality products.
1. Packaging type: Natural Paper Packaging, strong cardboardbox, The packaging can be round with a lid (as in the example) or a rectangular box. But also all the competitors are working with natural brown cardboardbox, so we’re also open for new ideas to differentiate! 2. Dimensions: 100 Straws in one package; 21 cm length x 8 cm width x 5 cm depth 3. Product details: Luseke Grass Straws, reusable 4. Inspiration: the packaging should have space for the story/idea of Ouroots Africa (https://www.ourootsafrica.com/). Design should be natural, simple and sustainable, but still be a special eye-catcher. Whether the design is decorated with different symbols, graphics or colours is up to you.
What to avoid
The design should look high-quality and stand out from the crowd (see competitor examples). Our competitions all use the natural cardboard, which we would also take over. But still, we would like to highlight our design from the crowd. We don’t want to limit your creativity!
