We need our package redesigned as our base material has to change. We have been hand stamping individual kraft bags til now, but this is no longer possible as we have been growing so quickly. We now need to switch to a flexible foil/film package. We especially want you to have experience in the food world. That said, creativity is number one!! We have worked with a couple of designers over the last year, but we need to have this packaging right away, and are needing some inspiration. This is a great opportunity for someone to build a relationship with us now while we are still fluid, and to really brand this product. We are in stores and have a strong brand: handcrafted, honest, high end. We have many ideas that we can share with you - things we have used, or like, or have bounced around. But somehow we just have not found the one thing that just blows us away. That makes us say YES! and that is, after all, the name of our product. :)
Please take a look at the current kraft packaging, only so you know what our customers are currently buying. We love that it is paper, and that it feels special. It does however not leap off the shelf. (although the bars do!) In any case, we cannot continue to use paper as it will not run on the machines we need to use to automate our process. We MUST switch to a foil film. We do not want to just print "kraft" on film as we do not like the disconnect of something feeling like plastic in your hand but pretending to be paper visually. It feels dishonest. We thought ok, maybe we will just go all white, so that is one thing you will see here. But that is feeling antiseptic and boring and soap like. (our own fault). Now we hope to find something that our customers can still somehow connect with our previous branding, and yet that can compete well with all the other hundreds of bars on the shelf. We are currently leaning towards a sunburst idea behind our circle logo (either the colored circle or the stamp version or something else??) We especially are interested in the idea of that jonathan adler style "word sunburst" around the logo, using the words and fonts from our "word concept doc". I am also including other sunburst ideas. Please note there is another bar called Bonk Breaker that uses a partial sunburst ray, so please make sure we are very different. It would probably be very beneficial if we could use words in the color rays, as there is a fair amount of info that legally needs to come across on that front label. Another idea we would be open to would be some way to use the back label to show what the bar/cookie looks like. We cannot use a clear label bc our product has coconut oil and chocolate and would smear. So customers often wonder what it would look like. Bonus points if you can use a bar pic somehow on back and still get all our info on there. While we are on the back of the pkg, it will have to ultimately be laid out according to a dieline, but for now we are posting the sticker we currently use for you to work off. The design can be easily accommodated later if you get the right idea now.
Other things to keep in mind: best if you know a bit about food pkging so you know the legal requirements. If not but you think you have the perfect design, ok, we can help you with some of the legal. This pkg will need to accommodate a growing line of flavors so design with that in mind please. This is a 4 color process. That means 4 colors max total. White is a color.
It is CRITICAL that our bar feel special and BETTER THAN ALL THE REST. We are twice the price of most bars bc we are do not skimp on our ingredients or our crafting, and our customers are willing to pay for it bc the experience they get is worthwhile and they are buying the quality of our product. But their willingness starts with our package. The package must tell them, even though it is the same candy bar wrapper the rest are in, that WE ARE DIFFERENT. And that this is going to be a whole new kind of snack bar experience: gourmet, ridiculously delicious, honest, and of the highest caliber. It also must somehow leap off the shelf. Tall order, we know. But we believe one of you can get this. :)
