How knoxy2420 started their product label journey
What colors do you want to see in your design?
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
My product is an authentic Jamaican Jerk seasoning and marinade that can be used on beef, pork, seafood, and tofu. The product is normally spicy and very flavorful. Our aim is to evoke memories of Jamaica to natives and visitors by using our product.
Description of the product target audience
Grillers and home cooks would typically use my product. My product is great slow cooked in smokers or barbecue grills, so this may target men 20 - 60 years of age. However, this product can also be used on meats as additional seasoning, and baked in ovens by home cooks.
I want something loud and fun. Most visitors to Jamaica return with the repetitive "Hey Mon" or with dreadlocks extensions in their hair. I want the label to display this type of fun. For example, an animated (but not too cartoonish) Jamaican with dreadlocks and big grin, inviting you for a taste of jerk chicken. Reggae is popular in Jamaica, so I would not mind and some reference to the music. Maybe someone carrying a banjo or some type of island instrument. Jerk seasoning originated in the hills (country) in Jamaica by runaway slaves. Some type of imagery reflecting this culture could be used. The main ingredients are pimento berries (Allspice), thyme, Scotch Bonnet peppers, and scallions (green onions). I would like these ingredients incorporated in the label. Lastly, I'm open to any subliminal messages. For example, a hidden reference to marijuana... 4/11/17: Added a caricacture of my late grandmother...not a must, but who can incorporate her in the label?
4/15/17: I have attached the Illinois Cottage Operation label requirements. The ingredients are as follows (Scotch Bonnet Peppers

I want to be able to wrap the label around the jar. Please see the attached Claussen example for the wrap around label.
What to avoid
My father and business partner is very particular about the colors of the Jamaican flag, displayed in the logo. The yellow must be gold, and the green more like a forrest green.
I need it to fit a 10oz glass mason jar. Four inches in height and round. Please not that we need room for ingredients and required verbiage based o. Illinois Cottage Food Laws.
