This contest is to design a label for a 5 oz bottle of cayenne pepper based hot pepper sauce.
Label Specs: The label should be 2 3/8" (height) by 5 5/8" (width) and include space for a bar code (to be provided). The label should also include:
1. The attached nutritional information,
2. The contents of the product-5 fl. oz (148 mL)
3. The note:
Panola Pepper Corp.
Lake Providence, LA 71254"
4. "Ingredients: Cayenne and Jalapeño Peppers, Vinegar, Onions, Sugar, Salt, Spices."
The above should be included legible, but should not take up the majority of the space on the label and for the most part should use minimum sizes to accomplish that.
As to the substance of the label and the brand, the Cajun Kitchen brand serves authentic, top-tier New Orleans hot sauces and food products. The product is a Cayenne Pepper Sauce, which we're calling "Classic Cayenne." This is our first label, so we have no pre-existing artwork to begin from, but below are a few considerations:
Authentic Cajun/Louisiana Sauce: Our food products are sourced from and use the best ingredients; all grown, harvested and prepared right in Louisiana. The label should incorporate that heritage, some ideas we've thought of involve Cayenne Peppers in the shape of Louisiana or a minimalist logo incorporating a Fleur de Lis as the central artwork (open to cursive or non logo text, so long as it's legible). We've set this campaign to a premium price as it effectively incorporates a logo design request, but we are open to suggestions and will respond to any suggestions if you want to run it past us before dedicating time to the artwork.
Not too hot: The nature of this Cayenne sauce is that it is very flavorful, without an overwhelming or lingering sensation of heat. Added to almost any meal, you can enjoy a Cajun flavor kick even if you're not traditionally a hot sauce lover. The label should incorporate the flavorful, not overpowering concept upfront. We've considered something like "Cajun Kitchen (not too) Hot Sauce" or thereabouts, but open to suggestions.
Target Audience: As indicated above, this is not targeting the traditional Hot Sauce crowd, and is not seeking to compete on hotness or spiciness. The label should convey that the product is for food connoisseurs, willing to pay a higher price for premium quality, an authentic Cajun flavor experience and the versatility that comes with the fact that this can be added to almost any savory meal.
