Food & Drink
We manufacture and sell our own brand of DRINKING CHOCOLATE, mainly in the UK. We are a small business with a national presence. At the moment, we have only one retail product - our "Spanish Chocolate" TIN. We have been selling this for 5 years. It has been aimed at the premium market and was initially only sold to delicatessens but we made strategic move to also sell to the supermarkets some years back. Why is Spanish Chocolate different? The key USP is that it is the only THICK hot chocolate widely available in the UK. It comes in a powder format and you need to add hot milk and mix to produce something that resembles melted chocolate! As it cools, it becomes thinner and easier to drink. It is also different because it comes in a fancy tin with minimalistic graphics (original text was suppose to be that similar to Chanel perfume...). We are launching a new product ('new jar') this year: it will be the same concept ie a thick hot chocolate drink, but it will differ in 2 major ways: 1. It will be packaged in a specially designed PLASTIC jar. 2. The powder needs hot WATER to produce the thick drink (not milk). As we have consistently used the same tin design all these years, we want to introduce the new jar but make sure that our existing customers can recognise it easily as a modern development of their favourite hot chocolate in the premium section of the supermarket.
What's your vision?
Having read the above, please find further details here: AIM: to create a new jar label/design based on ideas from our old tin (concentrate on the front but back needed too). The final design will be transferred to a pvc shrink sleeve which will wrap the new plastic jar from the bottom of the lid to the base. You are free to be creative to a certain degree as this brief does suggest trying to continue ideas from the old tin which might restrict you (hopefully not!). In the first few images uploaded, you can see our current tin design. Then I have included a very basic idea I created myself in a rush for some marketing I had to do....it is not good I know but it gives you an idea where we are going with this. Note the silver colour: here, I was trying to replicate the silver tin and rectangular label on the front. I am not sure if I will use silver in the final design (due to printing constraints) but I would like to try if you can use it effectively (reading the text etc must be very clear). Important bits: Product Name - SPANISH CHOCOLATE Description - INSTANT THICK HOT CHOCOLATE DRINK The back of pack needs all the usual information: I will upload a copy of the old label for you to take the details. You can reposition how you like on the back but make sure the barcode runs vertically and not horizontally as in the tin. The dimensions of the new jar are uploaded too (all sizes in mm). Be aware the jar lid is black (the 'original' flavour). I think the description can be on several lines as follows: INSTANT THICK HOT CHOCOLATE DRINK or INSTANT THICK HOT CHOCOLATE DRINK or INSTANT THICK HOT CHOCOLATE DRINK As it is different from the tin version, ie need to add water, we need to make this clear on the front: consider using - ADD WATER ADD HOT WATER JUST ADD WATER JUST ADD HOT WATER Our only logo is the Spanish flag (uploaded). It's fairly distinctive at a distance and is the only thing associated with the brand name (please avoid references to Spain as the product is a concept of 'thickness' rather than being just from Spain). But the logo has the company name in it - please remove the text as it will be unreadable once the size is reduced and is not required anyway. If you can improve on this logo slightly, please do so (? shadow/depth), but you do not need to if you think. IMPORTANT This design will cover our new hot chocolate powder to be used with hot water. It will the 'original' flavour. But, we have some other flavours coming soon eg mocha, chilli, caramel, mint, etc. The design needs to take this into account so that it can be changed later to add the words of the flavour eg MINT and be differentiated on the shelf. You might consider adding the word ORIGINAL in this design so that you have a position to replace it with the words of another flavour when we need to later. Please design it with the jar set against a white background. End
Some people like hot chocolate...everyone loves thick hot chocolate! It is aimed primarily at a premium market but we sell it at normal prices! Many ABC123 females buy this, but so do mothers, teenagers and anyone who wants a quality hot chocolate. What this jar is telling everyone is that 'standard hot chocolate is not good enough for me - I am smart enough to buy something which is different and brings me quality'. If you need anything further, let me know.
