It was a really fun and creative process. The designers all did a great job and were easy to work with regarding design changes, etc. I would definitely recommend using 99designs for any logo or branding needs.
How NK Corporate started their print or packaging design journey
We've been making Honeystix since 1982, and are the original manufacturer or this product. We package many varieties and flavors of honey and agave in a 5 gram packet. Historically, we've supplied other businesses and distributors who have re-branded the product and done their own marketing for retail sale. We are interested in having a retail-ready package that can be sold in grocery stores, catalogs, etc.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our target audience is:
Health conscious, beekeeping / farming, above-average income, families, small businesses, tea / coffee drinkers, hotels, outdoor enthusiasts, ...
We will be using a clear plastic container to hold our product. Our product is colorful and unusual so we want to emphasize the product itself (not hide it behind a label). The label will be printed on a transparent film sticker, the design can still use a variety of color ink and incorporate letters and graphics. We want a simple, future-leaning style, that can reposition the product to a wider customer-base and reinforce high quality. The product has a great history since 1982, being included on space shuttle flights, been included in cereal boxes, enjoyed by athletes, and most of all, a kid favorite.
We will be printing the labels at LightningLabels.com in Colorado. Their art requirements are at: http://www.lightninglabels.com/artspecs.htm
Their site states: "Our strongly preferred format is an Adobe Illustrator EPS file with all fonts converted to outlines."
The shape & size of the label is flexible, except that it cannot be more than 3.5 inches tall or more than 6 inches wide. Sample size templates can be found at: http://www.lightninglabels.com/specialdies.htm
The favorite preferred templates are included here as a file.
