Hi, we really appreciate every-ones efforts in this competition there have been so many great entries that it has left us a bit confused at times.
Our apologies must be extended for our slow communications and for the developing brief. What we have learned from this experience is very valuable - we have been able to see what image our selection of words are creating in the minds of others. This going to be such an insight with developing this project further. Thank you so much for this.
We have regretted our choice of sub-text and the first scene in the novel as your guides- we realised from your responses that the words have been putting forward images of either bondage (over sexuality at least), despair/anger (divorce is a lousy word...)
and cutesy kind of retro (lime green cool mints...).
We also tried to go down the literal path of action inside the novel - ie the radio station - but this is just a medium for pushing the action - not the essence of the story.
So, if you can bear with us, the new sub-text Idea is 'suddenly single.suddenly some-one else" - We would love to have your opinion on this? The story - in essence is about a period of great change in a persons life (the catalyst in this case is divorce but we do not want this 'just to be a divorce book) - after a life changing crisis they go through a time of 'not being themselves' (in a bit of a crazy way) and eventually they work through it and come to a better place (find themselves for want of a cliché) then they were if they had not been forced out of there 'comfortable-uncomftable' place.
We thank you again for your patience,
We are authors of a novel called Hell in the Hallway - a tale of sex, divorce and lime green cool mints.
It is a modern day novel aimed at women 30+ and deals with the reality of life after divorce.
We are looking for artwork that incorporates lots of white space and has a very clear title. We are thinking black on white but are happy to look at alternatives as long as they are not hot pink or cute.
The main character, Roxy is an alter ego and wears a long blonde wig, high heeled boots and very short skirts. She is anything but conventional and we want artwork that matches.
