Pricing Your Writing
An ebook that helps writers figure out what they should charge for a variety of writing projects.
Ebook title: Pricing Your Writing
Subtitle: A freelance writer’s guide to setting - - and getting - - the price you deserve
Author: Anna Krantz
This ebook is a how-to guide to help writers figure out what they should charge for a variety of writing projects. Since pricing is a big issue for a lot of freelancers, I think the straightforward title will be a big part of what draws the audience to the book.
Adjectives to keep in mind: clean, uncluttered, simple, straightforward.
Adjectives to avoid: funky, eccentric, retro.
I’m open to covers that use an image (or images) as well as covers that are simply text and color. If you use an image, these are my preferences:
a) Please avoid generic “writing” images (laptop, pen on notebook, etc.). Unless you have a clever way to tie that kind of image in with the “pricing” part of the concept, skip it.
b) I prefer photos to illustrations, but might consider stylized illustrations (for example: http://www.bigstockphoto.com/image-…-blog-ico)
c) I have credits from BigStock, so if you choose to use a stock image please select it from there and I will purchase the image rights if I pick the design.
Here are a few good cover examples from Amazon:
• Clean text-and-color cover: http://www.amazon.com/Sell-Now-Stra…NIVSXM/ref. Simple design with bold colors and big title. Maybe a little too plain, though, and I don’t like page flip at the bottom.
• Clean cover with image: http://www.amazon.com/Big-Short-Ins…338827/ref. Clean and straightforward, with an interesting image that fits the book subject. Has a lot of text, which is starting to make it look cluttered, although my book doesn’t have all the ‘extra’ text that this one does.
And a few that I don’t like:
• Too much going on: http://www.amazon.com/Whats-Next-Yo…515732/ref. There’s so much happening here, my eyes don’t know where to start.
• Not bad, but not what I want: http://www.amazon.com/Disrupt-Unthi…JXXKZG/ref. This cover is good for this book, but the sideways text and gradient color are not what I want for my project.
PSD or EPS file preferred. The subtitle may change so text layer should be editable.
