This designer was awesome! I just loved the work, communication and his willingness to change the subtitles and such. Will definitely hire again!

I (Keith Backman) am the author of a book entitled "The Nature of Knowledge in a Material Reality" and I need a book cover designed. The book will be self-published through bookstand.com. Their cover requirements are given at http://www.ebookstand.com/content/cover_art
In summary, those requirements are: Cover design to be a single TIFF file; 300 dpi; CMYK color. The book is (all measurements in inches) 5.25 x 8.25, so the cover art must be 5.5 x 8.5, allowing for a 0,125 margin all around. The spine thickness for the 160 page book is 0.378 A 2 x 1.5 blank space should be left on the reverse cover for the barcode, and I am in the process of writing text to be included on the rear cover, so the design/color on the rear should permit the printing to be legible.
The book is philosophy, directed to how we can be confident that what we perceive corresponds to what exists in the outside world. All designs which address this will be considered, but I have an idea in mind as a starting point. A person (perhaps just a head) views a simple object (apple, ball, tree, table, etc). In cutaway, the inside of the head reveals machinery (gears, mechanisms, electronics, what have you), and emerging from the machinery is a ticker tape on which is written the name of the viewed object.
