Title: The Road Home
Author: Andrew Baze
Max Publications logo is uploaded
This is the first book in a series of at least two, and first time publishing, so there are no others to compare with.
The quick version of the story -- boy goes out on a camping trip in the Cascade Mountains (east of Seattle) with his dad, big earthquake happens, they have to get home. They use handheld radios frequently in the story to communicate with each other, people on their route home, and with mom at home.
If possible, I'dd like to incorporate one or more themes of:
1) Amateur (ham) radio - a handheld ham radio, radio waves, communciation in general -- a good example of a handheld radio (which is used in the story) is a Yaesu VX-8R, which I can take a picture of if you can't come close - here is an example (it's not my image): http://www.vxstd.com.hk/products/am…dheld.html
2) Earthquake -- partially-collapsed buildings, buildings on fire, maybe a seismograph reading as a break between story summary text and author info on the back page?
3) The Cascades in Washington State, mountains, trees, and I-90 headed west
4) An independent, smart 14-year-old boy, who has to learn how to drive that day, rescues his father, defeats the bad guy in the end.
I want a cover that will catch people's attention, something simple and cool, that will make people want to know what's inside.
You can use sample text for the summary and author bio areas for now. You can put in a silhouette for author picture.
I've uploaded an example picture of a handheld ham radio -- it doesn't need to be hi-res or close-up - I don't think I could use that logo anyway.
