K3 FILM FESTIVAL Villach • Austria 13.-17. Dezember 2017 for German see below: The K3 Film Festival in Villach, Austria, puts a strong focus on its neighbouring tri-cultural area and offers the public a comprehensive overview of the region’s film production with a fascinating variety that only festivals can capture. It features a comprehensive programme of short and feature films from Carinthia (Austria), Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy), Slovenia and an industry meeting including the film commissions of all three regions. // In seiner grenzüberschreitenden Ausrichtung verbindet das K3 Film Festival in Villach seit Jahren die im Süden Österreichs aneinandergrenzenden Kultur- und Wirtschaftsräume Slowenien sowie Friaul-Julisch Venetien (Italien) und Kärnten (Österreich). Auf eine nachhaltige Positionierung in der internationalen Festivallandschaft bedacht, setzt K3 einen starken Fokus auf den nachbarschaftlichen Raum dreier Kulturen und bietet ein umfassendes Kurz- und Langfilmprogramm sowie einen Branchentreff mit den Filmkommissionen aus allen drei Regionen.

We need a poster for the K3 Film Festival, the subject/visual idea will then be used for all media. The topic of this year´s festival edition will be GRENZEN: LIMITS & BORDERS (see below for a detailed description of the topic). The visual concept should not focus too bluntly on the refugee crisis and Europe´s external borders, but should evoke new thoughts on the ambiguity of the German term “Grenzen”, which means as well “limits” as well as “borders” or “frontiers”. Thematik 2017 // topic 2017: Die Grenzen des Wachstums, die Sicherung der europäischen Außengrenzen, die Grenzen von Sitte und Moral bis hin zum Setzen von Grenzen in der Kindererziehung: Das Wort GRENZE ist in aller Munde und in allen Medien vertreten. Als grenzüberschreitendes Filmfestival nimmt sich K3 2017 der Thematik Grenzen an und stellt im englischen Beisatz die Vieldeutigkeit des Begriffs klar: GRENZEN: LIMITS & BORDERS. // The topic plays with the ambiguity of the German term “Grenzen”, which means as well “limits” as well as “borders” or “frontiers”. So the topics range from the limits of growth, the protection of Europe`s external borders, the limits of morality and conventions through to setting limits in bringing up children. Currently due to the discussion in politics and media on the protection of Europe`s external borders, the term “borders” is omnipresent. As cross-border project the K3 Film Festival in 2017 focuses on the issue GRENZEN: LIMITS & BORDERS wanting to provoke and evoke new thoughts on it. AUSWAHLKRITERIEN // CRITERIA : Dies ist ein offener Ideen-/Designwettbewerb. Bewertet werden Idee, Konzept sowie die entsprechende grafische Umsetzung. Die Fantasie hat keine Grenzen und diese wollen wir in diesem Wettbewerb fördern und herausfordern! // This is an open competition. The idea, the concept and its graphical realisation will be evaluated. But above all: There are no limits to imagination.
