EWWR Secretariat got their new poster by running a design contest:
European Week for Waste Reduction 2021
Check out EWWR Secretariat's Poster contest…
We coordinate a European-wide communication campaign on waste reduction (EWWR). Our target audience is very diverse: citizens, civil society organisations, businesses, schools, public authorities. Every year in November, the EWWR challenges them to take action and organise waste reduction initiatives. Every year we focus on a different theme. This year it will be about “sustainable communities”, referring to the role small communities can play in the transition towards sustainable consumption and production patterns. We would like to have a poster to promote the thematic focus of the EWWR 2021 campaign: sustainable communities (name tbc).
What's your vision?
The poster will be used to promote participation in this years' campaign that will take place from 20 to 28 November. The message we want to send is the need that individual citizens and the wider community are engaged, invested, and see local value and benefit in pursuing zero waste and circular activities. The promotion of a circular economy and a zero-emission society will necessitate a change of consumption and production patterns that go well beyond climate action alone. There is a full ecological transition that needs to be led and owned by the communities if we want it to succeed. A sense of solidarity and collaboration is needed among individuals believing in a society that stops producing waste and, which act together to promote a circular economy and reach sustainable development, by maintaining a good balance between the underlying environmental, social and economic pillars. Small, local, just, inclusive and zero waste communities can play a great role in pushing Europe towards a sustainable future. We would like to have an image that represents different people working together to promote waste prevention (reuse, repair, library of things, sharing). IMPORTANT: The poster should not focus on people cleaning the environment and recycling. This is not the topic. I try to give you some examples to help you to get inspired: I would like the poster to focus on people working together to REDUCE the waste production (refusing single-use items and using durable cups, bottles, bags, etc), REPAIR some old objects (computer, clothes, bike, toys), REUSE materials (making blankets from used pieces of fabric, creating pots from plastic bottles). RECYCLE could be in the poster but not as the main focus. Then, please, try to make clear that people are working together as a community. I give you this image that may help you: A single little fish on the ocean has very few possibilities to get safe from a shark’s attack. For this, little fish get together creating a big shape made of hundreds of them. Combining their bodies and strengths is the only way to survive and tackle such a big threat. The incessant waste production is one of the biggest threats that our society and our planet are facing. The fight against it is again a shared responsibility among all humans. As for the little fish, collaboration is the only key. The poster should include the following items: ACT TOGETHER Slogan to be created European Week for Waste Reduction 20 - 28 November 2021 www.ewwr.eu , Fb: @ewwr.eu Tw: @2EWWR #EWWR2021 Logo of the EWWR Logos of the EWWR partners
