We’re looking for a fun and contemporary poster for a new Christmas play for children.
The poster and title art will give the show its visual identity and will be used to promote the show. It will also be available to schools and churches who license the show for use on t-shirts, posters, programs, etc.
The Christmas play is called "A Very Mixed-Up Christmas Pageant"
It's about a group of kids that are preparing to present a traditional Christmas nativity play at their church (a play that tells the story of Jesus' birth). However the day of the performance they realize all the costumes are missing! So they are instructed to wear their old Halloween costumes instead. The play goes on in a very silly way, with the kids dressed up as different superheroes, firefighters, villains, wizards, etc., hilariously improvising their way through the story behind Christmas.
The main thing we want the poster to communicate is a silly mix-up of young kid(s) dressed in halloween costumes performing a religious Christmas play.
We're looking for something that is fun, hip, clean, bold, bright and contemporary. We DO NOT want anything too "kiddy" or “cartoony".
The poster must include the Beat by Beat Circle Logo somewhere on the top. The colors can be changed/edited to match poster if needed. You can file the logo files here:
Then the title of the play itself must be large and clear, taking up most of the poster. If it were printed and posted on a wall it should be very clear to read from a distance.
At the bottom of the poster should be the credits, which will read:
By Gwynne Watkins
So the layout on the poster should be:
- Logo (Beat by Beat Logo)
- Title (A Very Mixed-Up Christmas Pageant)
- Credits (By Gwynne Watkins)
See sample images below for direction.
Colors should be Christmas-y.
Possible directions could be:
- superhero-girl with halo and wings
- kid wizard with halo and wings
- silhouettes of kids in a Nativity Scene wearing Halloween costumes (superhero, Darth Vader, Cowboy, Wizard, etc.)
For the title it should be some fun, easy-to-read lettering with possibly some slight "mixed-up" elements.
Check out the images attached below as some design inspiration.
Should all be illustrated or feel illustrated - no real photography.
Simple and clean is good.
