ewagen got their new poster by running a design contest:
Classroom Art Posters
Check out ewagen's Poster contest…
Art posters for elementary school children. They will hang inside American classrooms.
What's your vision?
Hello, friends. Please see the attached example of the content I am looking to create. This is an example only; it is not to be copied. I would like to create a set of (eight) art posters for elementary school children. *This contest will award the first of eight posters entitled, "Elements of Art". I will commission the winner to design the remaining seven on a one-to-one basis for an additional fee; the seven are roughly based on the content of “Elements of Art”. I am not sure which design style would be best. Is there a way to make the design more modern? More retro-schoolhouse? A colorful, handwritten sketch, perhaps? A cartoon? Same style, but revamped? I would love to see some suggestions from illustrators. Try to keep it around 12x18 inches. I thought about giving you exact content to use, but then I thought: you are artists, you can do this much better than I can! (They are posters about art, after all.) But please, roughly base your content on the attached jpeg. Remember, use original illustrations and verbiage (do not plagiarize). And please reorganize the “elements” (spatially) so they do not appear copied from the sample. The example has them in rows; perhaps you can use a chart, columns, or another method to display the content. Feel free to add original verbiage too—I am a writer and educator by trade, so I can copy edit to my liking (don’t worry about grammar, especially if English isn’t your first language). As you can see, this project will be quite straightforward. Since the remaining seven posters are based on this design, and since the content is not too sophisticated, please expect modest compensation for them in the one-to-one phase. Thank you, and good luck!
