Food & Drink
We're a young company making raw vegan chocolates, pralines and chips in the heart of Europe (Prague). All our products are handmade and free of refined sugar. Our main target group is health conscious, somewhat hip, "flexitarian" eaters between ages 20 and 40, with a majority of our customers being women. This particular ad will be for an English magazine.
What's your vision?
We are creating a one-page ad in a magazine for our raw vegan products. The products are roughly divided into the following categories - small and large raw vegan chocolate bars - raw vegan pralines & truffles - raw vegan, cream-filled chocolate sticks - raw vegan cookies and biscuits - raw vegan dried products Our aims are - presenting our products as fresh and young without using cliches like green color for "healthy products" - also presenting our products as targeting a slightly higher-end clientele, not just the vegan sector The background that will be chosen will be very important, it should be something that gives visual depth to the overall ad since most product images are taken from the front. It will also be important to present the products in groupings that make sense, as there are quite a few individual products. Essentially, it does not have to be a complicated design but it has to be clear, elegant and eye-catching. Here are the TECHNICAL instructions as given by the publisher: The full page trim size is 190mm wide by 267mm deep with an additional 3mm bleed all sides. If you are going to send a pdf of the art-work then the standard is PDFX 1a, or a press quality pdf or a high res-pdf and I will convert it to standard. The pictorial matter should be set to 300DPI. Please use only type-one postscript fonts and CMYK colours. Do not use pantone colors. Alternatively you can send a CMYK jpg with a resolution of 300DPI or above.
I am uploading is an example of an previous ad for our brand where the colors and lack of depth are definitely an issue, but the one thing that works is the grouping of products and the short descriptions. Again, visually this is an example of what we DO NOT want, merely the descriptions and grouping is done OK. It gives you an overview of the range of products that need to fit on the page. As a second document I am attaching an ad which I find much lighter and which can serve as a very rough guide to what we want to see now. Again, it's just to give you a rough idea of a design that works better but PLEASE do suggest some of your own ideas too. IMPORTANT: The different shots of our products to be used for the new ad can be found and downloaded under the dropbox link below. The challenge will be to present the brand and its products in entirety, but still keep the design clean, elegant and not too crowded. Not all photos must be used but certainly the readers should get a good idea of all the products we do actually carry. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wqb2be20a4aompi/AAB8IIILu9N3rCB3E-auGctza?dl=0
