What's your vision?
We have 3 items that require design for print production: 1) 3'x4' poster art (attached file named "Map Poster 5.5") 2) One piece of a two-sided document (attached files named "Courts should want... page 1 + page 2") 3) One piece of single-sided marketing collateral (attached file named "Justice experience") The project comes with a strongly documented brand-bible offering clear design principles, as well as fonts, colors, sizes, etc. See below notes for references to other collateral that have designs the team appreciates. All of the items have final copy and a very, very rough layout that should probably change for content and some graphics. The winning entries will iterate on these suggestions to make a winning design. The documents are for content only: design, placement/layout, color, typography and everything else are up for proposals. Currently layouts feel type heavy, and good designs will use layout and design to increase readability, including by the addition of visual elements not in the word docs, like icons, backgrounds, graphical bullets, etc... Note that many drafts show call-out boxes with text and a border: these should not be styled like this. These are supporting information to the adjacent body copy, and you may change their presentation to find a style that looks good and flows with the design, and creates organized readability. Again: the word documents are just for content, and we don't like how they look at all right now! Regarding header images on page 1's of collateral: this is NOT a required element. This was an experiment in terms of how we might create a header. It is not required to have a photo header like these. However, should you wish to, we are fine with designs that propose using stock photos off of Shutterstock. So far, we have also been partial to designs that use a bold, color-contrasting stock photo to present a headline, such as design #35. However, we judge every design on merit. We do wish to have the header of the first pages have some uniformity in terms of header layout (not necessarily body though, as body content truly varies). Specific to the two graphic headers you will see: For "justice experience" the document speaks to a sense of experience in the California market. This image shows the CA state flag to evoke that alignment. Other images would be acceptable if they evoke California. As we have seen in designs, the flag image doesn't seem to present bold, color contrasting opportunities, so this image should almost certainly be replaced if a photo header style is used. For the "courts should want..." document, this image shows a CA, or probably Los Angeles highway intersection of important roads. It evokes the concept of many paths covering. We like the concept here, although we would be interested in exploring another image of the same (or something different) that provides better color contrast and fits the design. Watermark usage of the graphical "O" in the logo is acceptable as a design element. See attached future letterhead for how it will tie into brand identity. The goal in all this collateral is to engage senior judicial leaders in dialogs about how One Legal can be a partner to their electronic needs. More in the details below, and happy to answer any questions by message.
PLEASE REVIEW ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR VARIOUS UPDATES AND GENERAL FEEDBACK ITEMS. 1) 3'x4' poster art (attached file named "Map Poster 5.5") 2) One piece of a two-sided document (attached files named "Courts should want... page 1 + page 2") -Use the map + legend from file named "map poster 5.5" for artwork -Page 2 has an older map which should be updated with poster art, once poster art is completed 3) One piece of single-sided marketing collateral (attached file named "Justice experience") --------------------------------------------------------- SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS: Brand Bible Roboto fonts email launch PSD (use this to grab iPad w/screenshot art used in draft documents) Award graphics in vector format Overhead desk documents from which the iPad was taken, should you want to use other items from the same library. --------------------------------------------------------- 1) 3'x4' poster art (attached file named "Map Poster 5.5"): It is necessary to print the poster at 300dpi at 3' x 4'. This probably means turning the map PNG into something that scales better and creating a new graphic? Whatever it is, we have attached the map PNG to this job. You may use this to create a new graphic and when doing so, you should re-color the map with what you think is a better color scheme. (The one in the word documents was thrown together without much thought.) While the colors are the brand colors, they could be distributed differently in the document, and perhaps the counties without a designation might remain gray. Up to you to make a proposal. ***YOU MUST USE THE MAP 5.5 FILE TO RECOLOR A NEW MAP, ACCORDING TO HOW THE 5.5 MAP REGIONS ARE FILLED.*** (Example: all regions colors blue in the 5.5 file must belong to the same color group in the new design.) Those regions that are green-colored, and do not correspond the legend, may be any color for the purpose of design. Please recolor the entire map accordingly for the best design, while paying attention to detail to color regions according to the same legend. --------------------------------------------------------- 2) One piece of a two-sided document (attached files named "Courts should want... page 1 + page 2"): This talks about the company's capabilities to provide electronic services to the customers of the judicial system. Overall layout can be changed considerably. Graphics for the iPad with screen shot may be pulled from the email template PSD that is attached. Top boxed content needs to be styled or otherwise integrated so that the use of graphics below does not make it look awkward. Ideally, styling of the two pager front-side header area should match the single-sided asset, and provide a uniform look for collateral. Different size and or highly varying styles are not desirable. --------------------------------------------------------- 3) One piece of single-sided marketing collateral (attached file named "Justice experience"): This talks about the company's experience in California. It has two call-outs and these do not necessarily need to be placed in the right side bar. If they are, they must be styled better... The top call out may (but does not have to) reside higher in the visual hierarchy than the one below it. Overall layout can be changed considerably. This should be considered as a content document... the use of font size, color, placement is not a guide! --------------------------------------------------------- We can provide additional assets if needed. Please ask. Thoughts on other designs we like (specifically as it relates to BODY content layout, sections and readability): We expect it may be necessary to do a full layout overhaul of the body of the front pages: the word docs were not provided to be a source of final layout, the layout was just an example (and one we don't love, which is why we ask for help and offer a large prize). This design: https://99designs.com/profiles/stanojevic/designs/97407 It does a good job of breaking up some text heavy sections into manageable sections. It then used icons to identify and separate the sections. We like this concept. This design: https://99designs.com/profiles/qinkqink/designs/93756 This one does a nice job of using a graphic along the margin of a callout box to further stylize and introduce graphical elements. (back side, yellow box/phone) Not sure if it could work here, but we like the design principles. This design has some similar design principles to our brand. https://99designs.com/profiles/611829/designs/263329 Although the content is too text heavy, we like how it made use of headings and background colors to create sections like Company News, Clinical Utility. The Philantophy section also provided a clean way of creating sections among the information using typography and negative space to create readable sections.
