ABOUT THE INSTITUTE OF READING DEVELOPMENT The Institute teaches summer reading skills programs for elementary school students, in programs offered through partnerships with universities, colleges and municipalities nationwide. The goal of each program is to build reading skills, and to foster a lifetime love of books and reading.

AIMS & TARGET MARKET The Institute seeks a new elementary flyer design concept to advertise summer reading skills programs for elementary school students. The flyer will be sent to schools, passed out by teachers, and then taken home by students to show parents; therefore, the primary audience for the flyer will be teachers and parents of elementary school students. The successful design will be fun, appealing, and age-appropriate for elementary school students and will embody the excitement young children feel about learning to read, as well as appeal to an older elementary child’s enthusiasm about becoming strong readers and discovering the world of meaning and adventure found in books. It should also encourage teachers to distribute the flyer and encourage parents to read the flyer. The flyer design could include photos or illustrations of students, animals or books, but the Institute is open to many concepts for the layouts, looks and feel of the flyer.

COPY & SPECIFICATIONS The flyer design will be one-sided and the dimensions are 8.5” x 11” in either portrait or landscape orientation. We will consider designs in color or black and white. Since we brand our flyers with logos of the universities we partner with throughout the nation, we’ll need to include a partner logo in the design. Exact copy will be provided, but layout is flexible.
