Visual Peace Media
Visual Peace Media produces documentary stories that bring humans closer together. Through human stories we discover pieces of ourselves in others. We relate their actions and choices to our own experiences and find meaning in our own life. In this way, we can entertain & reduce social distance at the same time.
Movie Poster for a feature length Documentary, titled, Dance the Past Into the Future.
A film about dying traditions amidst rapid change in northeast Turkey. An inspirational element that's living on is the Horon folk dance, shared among the 3 generations alive today.

The 27"x40" poster will be used at film festivals. The poster artwork will also be modified for DVD packaging, postcards, & business cards. Final deliverable will be the 27"x40" Poster as a JPG & .PSD (layered, 300dpi) with all graphic element source files included (if any, ie. Textured BG).
Possible Concepts/Elements: City, & Nature, Music & Dance, Past & Future, Young & Old, Change, Hope, Community, Looking forward without forgetting the past. Foreign location/culture, yet familiar humanity. Physical elements could be textures like wood, stone, water, classic design elements from Ottoman times (but not too heavy on that).
The prominent visual features should be the Horon Dance, the Bagpipe &/or the Kemenche (violin-like instrument). Design can have one or all three. Design can be photos, or illustrations, realistic or highly graphic, very straightforward or simply suggestive of what one might see in the film. We don't have the best promo photography, mostly video still shots, so lots of creativity (and design acrobatics) can be used in the poster. There isn't one stellar photo that embodies the film. So enjoy the challenge :)

Design should be effective at 3 LEVELS OF VIEW: 1) far away (it needs to convey its message to a person standing pretty far away); 2) close-up (obviously, it should still be attractive and have good typography for someone standing 2 feet away to read); and 3) medium (from about 15 feet away, I should be able to see the text at the bottom. So aim for that when you're setting type.
Feel free to use STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY. We will overlook watermarks for now, until you are designated the winner. Please do not use copyrighted images you wouldn't be able to purchase (e.g. logos, screenshots, or images from real movies). We will obviously pay for the stock photography. Include the cost of the potential stock purchase in a message to us.
*FYI, we have searched most popular stock sites for Horon dance, Turkish Black Sea Region folk dance, etc, and NOT found anything good.
