Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The Bill of Rights Institute creates high-quality educational material focused on American History and Government for schools around the country.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We're launching a new digital textbook that deals with the founding principles - such as rule of law, inalienable rights, etc. - and how they continue to be expressed in American government and society. To accompany the online portion we also have printable handouts that teachers will be able to use in the classroom to supplement or replace the online only aspect. We need these handouts designed.
- The handouts will most likely be printed out in black and white, so the designs can't rely too much on color signals.
- The color scheme of the website will be dark blue with lighter blue and red accents. But please don't feel constrained by those choices, we're open to any style.
- Readability (for obvious reasons) is very important to us.
- Attached is an example of a handout we've done in the past that we liked.
We have a lot of pages that we'd like designed - all in similar layouts to the one we uploaded - so its important that we have a continuing relationship with our designer. We expect to finish writing the course in the next two months, and then are hoping to release it at the end of February 2014. Over that time period we'd work to apply the design that you come up with in this contest to the other pages (and of course we'd pay for each additional unit).
