CATA Safety/Customer Awareness Campaign - Interior Bus Cards

Travel & Hotel
The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) provides various public transportation options to those living in and around State College, Pennsylvania, which is the home of the Penn State main campus (University Park). Its CATABUS fixed-route bus system provides over 30,000 trips per day and over 7 million per year. The vast majority of its riders are Penn State students, faculty and staff (approximately 95%), along with commuters, persons 65 and over, youth and visitors.
What's your vision?
Via its interior advertising contract, CATA has access to interior bus card space near the ceiling of the bus (above riders’ heads) to place announcements. We would like to use this space to remind riders of various safety, etiquette and policy information, as well as to make them aware of CATA’s mobile app, myStop, and the online tutorials we have on our website, www.catabus.com. For this project, we are looking for one design, which will be the start of a full campaign. The topic for this initial design should be a reminder for riders when they board to have their pass or fare ready, and that they should remove headphones and cease talking on cell phones while boarding (so that they may interact with the driver). The winner of this design project, at CATA’s discretion, may then be asked to work with CATA on five additional similar designs as 1-to-1 projects. These 1-to-1 projects would be paid out at $100 per poster. The topics for the remaining posters are currently being finalized, but may revolve around us not allowing eating or drinking on the buses, moving all the way to the back of the bus if standing, etc. Being that our main target is students, we are not looking for anything cartoon-y, something with mascots or characters, etc. Rather, we are interested in a clean, bus colorful, simple poster. The poster size should be 11 inches tall by 28 inches wide. You sholud expect that approximately ½ - 1 inch at the perimeter may be covered by the holders in the buses. All files should be developed in Adobe Illustrator, PhotoShop or InDesign, and include unflattened layers. The artwork will most likely also be modified for Facebook promotion. Artwork for inside the buses will ultimately be printed on a styrene-type of material.
The CATA logo is attached. It may be included in full, or you can just use the orange ball and arrow. Our orange is PMS 1795C. I have attached two images of bus cards on the light rail system of Phoenix, Arizona, as an example of the typical size of these cards. Ours, however, fit into holders and these are what appear to be decals. I did, however, like the simplicity of these, minus the wordiness and maybe with an image.
