painting / rubberizing garage floors in single family homes, please attempt a cartoon, kind of like you see at the website www.darylsdogs.com or the book cover "What Kind of Cactus Izzat?" by Reg Manning.
What's your vision?
[This contest is being restarted under a new classification. Revised design brief.] ______Imagine: Imagine this. You live in Phoenix, AZ (use Google Maps -- "street view" if you need to see what the area looks like.) You go to visit a friend at his house and see that he has a workman over doing something. "Ah," you say to your friend, " I see you are having your garage floor rubberized. That's going to look nice. Who is doing it and how much?" Then your friend says to you, "I was thinking about it when I got this nice postcard in the mail, see here it is." (The one you the artist is supposed to design on this 99designs contest.) Just then, the workman finishes up says to the owner, "Look here, I am all done!" You and your friend stand back by the sidewalk, looking sideways across the driveway toward the garage and house. From there, you can see: the garage open, the floor done and shiny, the workman's truck parked somewhere in the background and the workman himself on the driveway gesturing at the floor. Then you think to yourself, "Wow, I want this too. I'm going to hang onto this postcard. Hey, it looks just like the scene I'm viewing right now!" ______Initial Criteria: Draw a cartoonish transparent GIF that is 600px wide x 400px tall (about the size and landscape orientation of a postcard) according to the directions that follow. The initial sketches should be without color and without too much detail (unless you want to throw these in) because I want to see what your drawing style is like before you spend too much time on it. I will give abundant feedback and invite those who exhibit the drawing styles I am envisioning to then add color and greater detail. The final drawing size should be under 500 KB, the smaller the better. If you can work in any movement like an animated GIF, all the better but this is not necessary to win. _______The Criteria in More Detail: Here is some relevant information about this type of work, painting floors: (no, this is not my friend's website) http://www.aadpainting.com/garage.htm The finished product will be a colorized drawing that contains a cartoonish image of each of the following: 1). A garage with the front door open (empty of cars). 2). A shiny new floor that has just been painted gray / light blue within the garage. 3). A truck parked somewhere nearby to indicate the workman’s vehicle. 4). Some paint pails & brushes. 5). The workman (a white middle-aged man) smiling and pointing to the newly done floor. 6). (deleted) 7). (deleted) 8). Some other details to give a local flavor to the scene, like: a blazing sun (no clouds in the Arizona sky), a tall saguaro cactus, a short prickly pear cactus or barrel cactus, a smiling lizard, a scorpion, a javelina (it is about the size of a dog, but looks like a hairy wild pig--see google images), etc. You don’t have to put all this stuff in there but do try to give the drawing the flavor of the area.
