I'm an engineer, not a designer, so the design we have used so far that was made by me isn't as good as it could be. I want a better design that looks professional.
Basically there are two elements to this menu. Right now I have the navigation on the left which has access to NAVIGATION/SETTINGS/RENDERING/ABOUT and the left I have the phasing menu which basically allows the user to see the difference between the existing and proposed conditions with sometimes intermediate phasing as well.
This menu needs to be designed for touch screens with most of the elements preferably in the top left or top right with minimal impact to other parts of the screen. I have developers available to animate or hide elements as you can see from the designs we are currently using. Resolution varies but 1920 x 1080 is most typical.
While we have been using rectangular elements and I like Google's material design that we have roughly designed the menus on, I'd also like to look into the options of circular elements. I've attached a few circular and other menu elements that I like. Translucency and shadows also acceptable.
You can see our current menus and how this should function at these links:
Feel free to be creative. I think there are a ton of ways to make this type of menu work and I'm anxious to see what real designers can come up with that will looks great and also function great.
