We are creating a software to help companies of all sizes manage their recurring revenue without the use of spreadsheets. Our target audience are organizations accounting and finance departments. There is likely a 60/40 split on females to males on the expected users of the software.

Revenue recognition is very complex. As an analogy, think of the IRS tax code and how voluminous and complex it is. Previously people would either hire a professional or get the paper forms and perhaps with some help from a spreadsheet would stumble their way through it. Then came along Turbotax by Intuit. A very easy to use software which took some very complex rules and allowed the everyday person to do their own taxes. We want to create a TurboTax like design for our solution. Creativity is welcome however the overall look and feel should follow TurboTax, with simplicity and ease of use as the central theme.

We believe our target user will be accounting managers, and a majority will be female. These users know how to use Quickbooks and are adept with MS excel. They do not know revenue management, so we want to make sure the UI is incredible simple and intuitive. Some companies that are solving other problems with ease of use solutions: Bill.com, Zuora.com.
