ColleenLewis got their new other design by running a design contest:
Design a doc for sharing teaching tips!

We provide tips for computer science teachers to improve their teaching. We have a focus on teachers in the USA who teach kids ages 5-18. We have the website: CSTeachingTips.org We're sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
What's your vision?
I want a 1-page document with tips for how to teach computer science. The document should have 4-7 tips, depending upon how many tips fit well within the design. I have attached the file CSTT_example.ppt. This document meets my technical needs, but has too many tips and is not very visually appealing. I want to be able to customize the document and therefore I want to be able to change the title for the tips and the contents of the tips. Size: 8.5"x11" (one-sided) Format: Word (docx) or Powerpoint (pptx) preferred. A psd or ai file is acceptable too. Printing: Must not lose meaning if printed in black and white. Avoid white text on black background in case teachers print it in black and white. Must include: - A title for the tips (e.g. "Tips for Making CS Accessible") - 4 to 7 tips - The CSTeachingTips Logo (CSTT_logo.ai file attached) - The twitter handle: @CSTeachingTips - The web address: CSTeachingTips.org - A URL where I can provide more information about the tips. The URL will probably be something with the title from this document in it (e.g. CSTeachingTips.org/Tips-for-Making-CS-Accessible) Additional notes: - The most important content is the title for the tips and the tips. The CSTeachingTips logo, twitter handle, and web address are much less important. - I listed a range of how many tips should be included (4-7 tips) because I'm not sure how many will fit and be visibly appealing. - The tips can be numbered (e.g. Top 5 tips for Making CS Accessible) - The document can contain the banner logo (CSTT_banner.ai), but doesn't need to. - The document can capitalize the web address as csteachingtips.org or CSTeachingTips.org Each tip has a title, explanation, and quote. The words "title," "explanation," and "quote" shouldn't appear within the document. Here are 7 example tips: Tip 1: Encourage Collaboration (Title) to create community and dispel stereotypes (Explanation) Work with another person on this problem! (Quote) Tip 2: Take Breaks During Lecture (Title) to allow students to process information. (Explanation) We’ve covered a lot so far! 2-minute break! (Quote) Tip 3: Share Challenges (Title) to encourage persistence. (Explanation) I had trouble understanding this topic in college! (Quote) Tip 4: Publicize Ways to Practice (Title) to support students who need more practice. (Explanation) The homework lists additional practice problems! (Quote) Tip 5: Address Gaps in Experience (Title) to emphasize learning over past experience. (Explanation) Don’t worry if you’ve never seen this before! (Quote) Tip 6: Hold Office Hours in Lab (Title) to increase access to help by lowering barriers. (Explanation) Come to my office hours to work on your homework! (Quote) Tip 7: Articulate Expectations (Title) to avoid tacit class requirements. (Explanation) Start homework early so there’s time to get help! (Quote)
Thanks! I think having a great design will make teachers more interested in these tips that can help improve their teaching! :-) - Colleen
