We are the department at UMass Dartmouth responsible for teacher preparation and ongoing teacher development in the content areas (math, sciences, social studies/history, foreign languages, and English). The request being made here is for the first step of a branding process for our teacher education programs.
What's your vision?
This will be the first part of a two-part process. Our committee needs a "Conceptual Framework" developed. We have identified the elements of the conceptual framework and have a hacked together visual we've been using (I'll attach it for you). We want something that conveys that we are developing reflective practitioners (gender neutral) and that the various elements surrounding that reflective practitioner are our values/goals. We need it to use our University Colors or colors that our rather conservative media person will agree "go" with the University Colors. I think we are open to a wide variety of approaches other than that.
On this page http://www.umassd.edu/publications/ there is a link to UMass Dartmouth Style Guide. On pages 5-8, it includes the various university logos and pantone color codes. I don't think you need to work the university logo into this at all, but as I mentioned above, we need the colors to work with the university colors so the pantone codes should be useful. There are also guidelines on appropriate fonts. I know this is pretty picky, but I won't be allowed to use the materials we are having developed if they don't. I also did a quick Google search on education conceptual frameworks (https://www.google.com/search?q=education+conceptual+frameworks&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=SWNzU_HhF8S3yATTgIKIBQ&ved=0CC0QsAQ&biw=1120&bih=598) so you can see the wide variety. We like that ours has a human in the middle of it - so I think we'd like to suggest that some kind of person or character be there -- but, again, we are open to suggestions. Ideally, it would be great if there was a piece of it that could be pulled out and made into a logo as well so we can slap it on pens, notepads, jump drives etc - but, that is moving into the second portion of this effort. (I anticipate we will do the conceptual framework and whoever wins it will then do a 1-to-1 project with us for the rest of the work.
